Mark Webber will meet Dietrich Mateschitz on Thursday
Although the Australian has not yet made a decision, he is expected to discuss his future with the Red Bull boss this Thursday, even if the wait could last several more months before any official announcement.
While his long-term future has been the focus of media attention for many weeks – if not months -, Mark Webber suggested on the Austrian television channel Servus TV that a decision might be made soon, although we will likely have to wait a bit longer to know more. « Thursday, I will have a good conversation with Dietrich Mateschitz. During the summer break, we will discuss it one way or another, and then we will know more in the coming months. »
The Red Bull driver has not yet made his decision. « Whether I stay ultimately depends on my motivation and if I can race at the highest level. For now, it seems I will continue. Naturally, I talk to the people who are close to me and who have supported me, and I will make my decision when I have to. Soon, he confided.
The Australian, who celebrated an entire year without victory in Hungary, is indeed experiencing a frustrating start to the season, often hampered by reliability issues – notably with the KERS – but also by individual underperformances – he never led the first lap of the three Grand Prix where he started from pole position. However, Mark Webber is not alarmed and even thinks he is making progress. « The next victory will come when I least expect it, just like my first victory. I feel like I’m getting stronger each time: it’s going in the right direction. »
