LRGP will not trade its Renault engine for a Cosworth
No deal with Cosworth for Eric Boullier's team
At the beginning of the week, we reported that the German daily Auto Motor und Sport indicated that the Lotus Renault GP team might have to do without the French engine in the near future due to financial difficulties faced by the team.
« We have a very clear three-year contract (until 2013) for the supply of engines with Lotus Renault GP. We will honor this agreement. We were very surprised to hear these rumors, » stated Jean-François Caubet, head of Renault Sport F1, when asked about these rumors by RMC radio.
Lotus Renault GP should not swap the Renault engine for a Cosworth next season or even after since the team is in discussions with the French manufacturer for the supply of the future V6 planned for 2014. « We are seriously in discussions with Lotus Renault GP regarding the V6 engine, » added Caubet.
Lotus Renault GP will indeed be equipped with Renault engines in F1 in 2012 as well as during the 2013 season.
