Sunday: Toro Rosso in the points again with Alguersuari

Although the race seemed to be off to a bad start after qualifying, which saw both cars eliminated in Q1, the Toro Rosso team left Great Britain with a point earned by Jaime Alguersuari, while his teammate, Swiss driver Sébastien Buemi, was forced to retire after a collision with Paul di Resta.

Sunday: Toro Rosso in the points again with Alguersuari

Jaime Alguersuari – 10th:

At the beginning of the race, I was focused on staying on track as it was very slippery and I didn’t want to make any mistakes and finish the race. I was definitely faster than Heidfeld and Schumacher throughout almost the entire lap, as was already the case in Valencia, but I was lagging behind on the straight. I’m not sure why, maybe because I was running with a bit more downforce than them. However, I am happy for the team, whom I thank for their good work. Getting into the points starting from 18th on the grid is a good result after we failed to exploit the soft tires in qualifying.

Sebastien Buemi – Retirement:

« I’m a bit disappointed because I feel that we could have scored some points today. I was on a good pace. I would like to watch the video with Di Resta to see exactly what happened, but, from the cockpit view, I was on the dry line and he tried to take me on the inside where the track was still very wet. Therefore, he couldn’t brake as hard as he could have on the dry and I felt the impact. He hit my rear tire which dislocated. But that’s racing, so it’s better to forget it and start thinking about the next race at the Nurburgring. »

Franz Tost

It was a good race overall and particularly for Scuderia Toro Rosso because once again we are in the points, for the sixth time in six races this season and for the fourth time in a row. It’s also another good performance for Jaime. He had a fantastic race built on a good start. Towards the end of the race, he caught up with Schumacher and came close to overtaking him in the last lap. Unfortunately, Sebastien’s race ended after the collision with Di Resta, who, in my opinion, was quite clearly at fault.

Under race conditions, the STR6 seemed to work very well and produce good lap times. Overall, the team did a good job, including in choosing strategies, and we were competitive throughout the afternoon.

All these positive aspects mean that we can look towards the next round at the Nurburgring with confidence.
