Sunday: Williams wasn’t expecting the rain
Williams is disappointed at the end of this home Grand Prix for the team. Maldonado's seventh position yesterday had raised hopes of scoring points in the race, but the rain that fell a few minutes before the start compromised the Venezuelan's chances. Rubens Barrichello was also a victim of the weather conditions, but he started further back on the grid. A race to forget, then, for Franck Williams' team.
Rubens Barrichello – 13th:
« We didn’t have the best start and dropped a bit down the order. Strangely, the car wasn’t performing well in the wet, and it was tricky to keep it on track. It was also challenging to stay in touch with the drivers ahead of us. We were hoping for a better result for our home Grand Prix. »
Pastor Maldonado – 14th:
« It was a bit difficult for us today, particularly with the rain that fell just before the start. Our setup was geared towards dry conditions, so our race was compromised from the beginning. In the end, our performance was better, but it was too late. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the best weekend for us. »
