Friday: Start of training for Ricciardo at HRT

The young Australian driver took his first laps with his new team, but the weather conditions did not allow him to really find his footing, just as they did not allow the team to complete their testing program.

Friday: Start of training for Ricciardo at HRT

Vitantonio Liuzzi – 22nd and 24th

Today it was a difficult day due to weather conditions that did not allow us to test everything we wanted to evaluate. It was hard to fully understand everything because the track was changing every 10 minutes.

The morning went well, we did a few stints on intermediate tires, evaluated some new features, and got some good responses, but the problem was that the track conditions kept changing all the time.

In the afternoon, we only did a few laps to break in some sets of intermediate tires for tomorrow, so we can’t draw any more conclusions from it.

Tomorrow, conditions could be better so it will be the start of this British Grand Prix.

Daniel Ricciardo – 24th and 23rd

« My first day at my new job is over, and I am happy about it. It’s a shame about the weather; I think it would have been better for me and the other drivers, but at least we managed to do a few laps. I am a bit more familiar with the onboard systems in the HRT, and hopefully, tomorrow’s weather will be a little less wet so that we can do a bit more proper testing before being ready for the qualifications.

It’s a different car so I’m still trying to learn and find the best compromise and the best trajectory on the track, so I think today hasn’t been a bad day for that.

I think that I’m learning well, quite quickly and as long as I continue to progress, I think it will be a good weekend and a good 2011 season.
