Friday: Improvements satisfy Williams
The Williams team brought a lot of new developments to their car for this Grand Prix. This first day was therefore mainly dedicated to evaluating these innovations, which seem to be satisfactory. The team aims for the top 10 tomorrow and points on Sunday.
Rubens Barrichello – 13th and 12th:
« We made a lot of improvements in Valencia, so it was a busy day for the team. The new parts still need to be tested a bit, so we have to look at the information collected today. We will do our best to get the most out of the car for a good performance in qualifying and to score some points in the race.
Pastor Maldonado – 15th and 13th:
« We did everything we needed to do today so that’s good. I had a few issues at the end of FP2 with a slow puncture so I had to end my session a few minutes early but it didn’t really set us back. »
« There is still progress to be made, but there is no reason why we shouldn’t fight for a place in the top 10 tomorrow. »
Sam Michael – Technical Director:
« Today we evaluated different things: A new rear wing and a new exhaust system. Afterwards, we worked on the setup and covered long stints to assess the tires. We did not have any reliability issues and our goal is to score points. »
