Thursday: Satisfaction in the Lotus Renault camp
The Lotus Renault GP team completed its program during the two practice sessions of the day. Both drivers tested the two compounds provided by Pirelli and are satisfied with the car's performance.
Nick Heidfeld – 11th and 10th:
«Above all, it’s a pleasure to drive here in Monaco. Of course, as drivers, we have to deal with the traffic – 24 cars on such a small circuit is a challenge for each of us – and we saw that when I was driving with the super softs because I didn’t get a clear lap.»
It was interesting to be with different tires, the soft and the super soft. We will be able to learn a lot about our performance by using them, and that was the goal today.
« With the super softs, the balance wasn’t as good as I wanted, but we will look into it for Saturday. »
Vitaly Petrov – 9th and 11th:
« We got pretty much everything we wanted today. As we all know, this circuit is very different and unique for us so it has been particularly useful to try things. I was able to try both types of tires and we’ll be able to look at the data and see how these tires work on the track. »
I had an incident at the end of the second session, which included a bit of oversteer followed by understeer and I lost control. I think we are satisfied with what we saw today and we look forward to the rest of the weekend.
