Sunday: Double points for Sauber

Sergio Perez – 9th:

It was a difficult race today and a battle for points. I’m really happy that we made it. My first points in F1 are something special for me and it’s good for the team that Kamui scored as well.

The team had a very good strategy and did a perfect job in the pits. I feel that, for me, this is a turning point in the season. We will continue and score more points.

Kamui Kobayashi – 10th:

I lost a lot of time in the first lap today. After the start, I was pushed into the gravel and another car hit me, which caused a puncture on the rear left. I had to pit and was relegated to last place, which cost us a set of soft tires. I had to do a long stint on the hards, which wasn’t easy, but overall, the race pace was good.

I’m happy to have scored points for the fourth consecutive time and I think we are heading in the right direction.

Peter Sauber – Team Principal:

« It is not easy in this very competitive field to score points if you start 12th and 14th. Despite a puncture on Kamui’s car, thanks to good strategy, we placed both cars in the top 10.

Congratulations to Sergio for his first points in the championship after losing those in Melbourne; he had to wait a bit. Kamui showed a great recovery. I’m very happy that the new aerodynamic package has ensured that the gap with the top teams hasn’t grown and that the gap with those behind hasn’t decreased. I want to send a thank you to Hinwil.
