D’ambrosio could be replaced during the season

Some undoubtedly know, but it is very hard to break into Formula 1 without numerous sponsors, although some still manage, like Jérôme d’Ambrosio, a Belgian driver for the Marussia Virgin Racing team. However, he could find himself without a seat as soon as the Canadian Grand Prix. Indeed, some of his sponsors have stopped paying the Russian team, which tends to annoy them.

The team management clearly told me that they were thinking of replacing Jérôme if things didn’t change. Fortunately, Jérôme is doing a great job, and the relationship between Gravity and Virgin is much more than contractual. We are the ones bearing the brunt and putting our hands in our pockets to ease the situation, but this cannot last indefinitely.

There are still two Grand Prix left for d’Ambrosio’s sponsors to settle their dues, otherwise it might be the Canadian driver Robert Wickens who could replace him starting from the free practice sessions of the Canadian GP to be held in June.
