Sunday: A rather satisfactory report for HRT

Narain Karthikeyan – 22nd:

« We achieved our main goal today, which was nothing other than finishing the race. I don’t think the Virgins are very far ahead of us, which is a good thing for the upcoming races. After reaching our goal today, we must now improve the car and try to tackle Turkey now.

With the new developments and parts, we will be much more competitive for the next race.

Nothing is easy in Formula 1, but we will certainly be able to compete with our closest rivals very soon.

Vitantonio Liuzzi – 23rd:

«We raced much better than in Malaysia and we closed the gap on Virgin, our closest rival. Unfortunately, I had to serve a drive-through penalty due to a problem at the start where I dropped the clutch too early and moved before the lights went out. But overall, I am happy because we achieved our goal, which was to make it to the checkered flag. »

Now, we must look towards Turkey because our race pace has improved since Malaysia and it will be even better in Turkey with the upgrades.

Our strategy was to make only one stop but it turned out to be too difficult on the tires, so I asked to come in. The second stop helped us achieve better lap times. We still need to improve, but we were still only 17 seconds behind the Virgin and without the drive-through, the gap could have been even smaller.
