McLaren challenges Red Bull’s race cars
Adrian Newey is highlighted this weekend by the McLaren team, which raises concerns about the front wing of the RB7, which, according to them, is too flexible compared to FIA regulations.
Adrian Newey, Technical Director at Red Bull, once again defends himself against violating FIA regulations.
The McLaren team indeed raises concerns about the RB7’s front wing, which could allow a degree of flexibility during the race but be rigid enough to pass the FIA’s single-seater tests.
We will remember that Ferrari used this concept last year and plans to bring it back up to date for the upcoming Grand Prix races.
This is not an issue related to whether the front wing bends or not. It all lies in the design of the car. It gives the impression that the wing is closer to the ground than, for example, McLaren, whose car was designed according to the opposite principle, being higher at the front and lower at the rear, declares Adrian Newey to Auto Bild.
«I have the impression that the teams that chose the same approach as McLaren would like our concept to be banned. Well, it was their own decision to build their cars that way, » he adds.
