Friday: McLaren is not taking off yet!
McLaren still has some progress to make before being on pole.
Lewis Hamilton – 3rd and 2nd:
«It was a very busy day. The car wasn’t too bad at the end of the second session. I was able to do a decent lap despite not feeling very well in the car. »
We had a bit of trouble with the settings. It seems that the car is not performing in the areas we expected. We need to fix the issue with the car’s balance, which was poorer despite the developments.
«It seems that we have found several ways to improve since Malaysia. We will look into it this evening to choose which elements of the new package we will keep for the rest of the weekend.»
Jenson Button – 4th and 3rd:
This morning went quite well, and the car was working fine. It’s a pleasant car to drive. In the afternoon, we tried a few small things, and it didn’t really improve the balance of the car. That’s why we’re going to see why these changes didn’t provide the improvement we were expecting.
The car is quite good with the hard tires but less so with the soft ones. So it’s not a perfect afternoon, but we have a lot of information on the changes made, which will allow us to improve for tomorrow.
It wasn’t as hot as in Malaysia, so I don’t think the tires will degrade as much. If we find the right balance tomorrow, we will be a bit closer to Red Bull.
