Di Montezemolo leaving Ferrari?
The current president of Ferrari, Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, is reportedly about to leave the Scuderia to pursue a career in politics.
This is at least the announcement of Massimo Cacciari, former mayor of Venice, who has been working for months to set up a political party in opposition to the Berlusconi government in Italy. In an interview with the Italian station Radio Popolare, the Venetian revealed, using the present and future but never the conditional, that Montezemolo is preparing his national civic list to present himself on the political scene in the next elections. It’s a matter of time now.
A political program that is gradually being implemented.
For months, Professor Cacciari has been close to the president of Ferrari and has been trying for some time to bring together “civic” personalities in a cross-political movement. Montezemolo’s goal, Cacciari explained, is to capture the votes of a segment of the public that no longer identifies with Italian bipolarism. The Venetian philosopher even goes so far as to say that Montezemolo stands a good chance of running for the presidency of the Council, before concluding that he must first and foremost clarify things with Ferrari.
An inheritance that could pose problems
The succession of Luca di Montezemolo at the head of Ferrari is therefore at the center of rumors. The name Lapo Elkann, 34 years old and brother of the current president of the FIAT group John Elkann, has already been mentioned. He already holds a position as a collaborator with Ferrari. His candidacy would be supported by FIAT group CEO Sergio Marchionne.
The other name circulating from Turin is that of Andrea Agnelli, 35 years old and son of Umberto and Allegra Carraciol, the current president of Juventus.
The mention of these names certainly stirs up concerns and protests among Italian tifosi, who see in these two figures individuals unconcerned with Ferrari’s primary interests.
And you, what do you think about Montezemolo’s potential departure and his succession?
