The Mercedes team hoped to score points despite starting from rather distant positions, but the race did not go as planned. Nico Rosberg had to retire quickly, and although Michael Schumacher made a very strong comeback from the 23rd position on the grid, he ultimately finished in 11th place, just outside the points.

Heikki Kovalainen managed to finish ahead of the other drivers from the "new" teams at Suzuka during the Japanese Grand Prix. The Finnish driver was pleased with the behavior and performance of his Caterham. Vitaly Petrov, on the other hand, had some issues with the KERS and the radio.

Despite the disappointment of an average result in qualifying, the McLaren team remains optimistic for the race. Lewis Hamilton acknowledges having made mistakes in his setup, which cost him time, as did the yellow flag following Räikkönen's off-track excursion. But he hopes to score big points tomorrow, while Jenson Button, who will start just ahead, is aiming for victory on a track he particularly enjoys.

Thanks to the innovations introduced in Japan, the Sauber team has taken a step forward, resulting in a very strong overall performance during the qualifications. Sergio Pérez believes he can fight for the podium, just like Kamui Kobayashi, who would like to achieve his first F1 podium in front of his home crowd.

The Marussia team is quite pleased with the performance of its two drivers during the Japanese Grand Prix qualifying as they both beat a Caterham. A slight disappointment, however, to see Charles Pic outpaced by an HRT. But Glock and Pic are rather confident for the race because the MR01 is always better in race conditions.

The Toro Rosso drivers are pleased with the progress made since the start of the weekend, although the performance of the STR7 is not yet as good as it could be. Daniel Ricciardo enjoyed himself on track and hopes to do the same tomorrow, and perhaps even pick up a few points at the end of the race.
