The FIA stated that it could not ban Stepney from working in motorsports because he is not a holder of an FIA license.

Reacting to the FIA’s statement, he explained today that he was delighted that the FIA had dropped any prosecution, but criticized the fact that it took several months to reach this conclusion.

Stepney is still suspected of industrial espionage against Ferrari, but the former mechanic maintains that he is innocent in this matter.

Sian Nath, Stepney’s lawyer stated: « It should be noted that Mr. Stepney has never expressed any dishonest intent. The FIA is fully aware of this. »

He himself said he was particularly disappointed with the FIA president, Max Mosley, because even after sending him a letter last August, the two parties have never met since.

« I will tell everything in my book, » he stated, who plans to publish his autobiography a little later this year.

« At the moment, I am enjoying the company of my family who have suffered immensely and who have always been there by my side to support me through this ordeal. »
