Honda officially becomes Brawn GP for the FIA

The FIA has officially accepted the name change of the Honda team to become Brawn GP. The Japanese manufacturer, Honda Racing, decided at the end of last year to leave Formula 1.

The decision to change identity was made by the World Motor Sport Council, which met this Tuesday.

According to a statement released by the FIA: « Honda Racing F1 Team requested to change their name to become the Brawn GP Team. »

« The World Motor Sport Council accepted this request for Brawn GP to enter the championship. A contract was made with this team since Honda can no longer fulfill it. However, the standard fee required for a new entry was waived. »

GP Brawn also confirmed that the team’s owner, Ross Brawn, and the lawyer Caroline McGrory are the team’s directors.
