The man with 100 poles was able to rely, in addition to his masterful driving on a circuit he particularly loves, on an effective strategy from Mercedes, which chose to make a second pit stop on the 42nd lap to finish the race on mediums.<\/p>\n
The Briton, who had lost first place in the first round, was grateful to his team at the microphones at the end of the race: “The start wasn’t good, Verstappen had a lot of grip on his side of the track, which gave him more traction to overtake me in the first corners. I was able to stay behind him while managing the tires, and I was close to passing him before coming into the pits for the second time. I hesitated to come in but finally trusted my team and we were able to adopt the winning strategy in the end.”<\/p>\n
