For the hyperpole, the top six from each category in the qualifying session were able to take part in this session, and from the very beginning, the stopwatch went crazy. The Toyota number 7, driven by Kamui Kobayashi, set a time of 3’26’611 before the time was cancelled for exceeding track limits. The Alpine, which had achieved a better time, also had its mark cancelled.<\/p>\n
A loop later, Brendon Hartley’s number 8 car accelerates and clocks a time of 3’25”213. A few moments pass and the Alpine crosses the line in 3’26”568 and seems to have found something as the gap has reduced compared to the free practice sessions.<\/p>\n
At 7 minutes from the end, the Alpine sets the best time at 3’24”850 ahead of the Toyota 8 (3’25”213). In a final effort, Brendon Hartley takes pole position with a time of 3’24”408, ahead of the number 7 car with 3’24”585.<\/p>\n
The JOTA number 38 sets a first cannon time in 3’30”373, half a second ahead of all its competitors. The Realteam WRT then takes the lead in 3’29”697. Finally, the 31 of the WRT team grabs the pole in this category in 3’28’394.<\/p>\n
During the beginning of the session, the two Corvettes battle for the first place exchanging hundredths. The confrontation turns in favor of the 64 by a small tenth. The Porsches, which hadn’t yet come out, set their first lap times 10 minutes before the end and take the 2nd and 4th positions.<\/p>\n
