Since the beginning of the season, luck has not always been on Alpine’s side. Between reliability issues that affected both cars and a penalty given to Fernando Alonso in Canada, which cost them significant points, things haven’t added up.<\/p>\n

At Silverstone, once again it was reliability that failed as both blue cars were in the top 10 and big points were expected. Fernando Alonso secured a very impressive 5th place finish, while Esteban Ocon didn’t see the checkered flag. The Frenchman could have hoped for a great result, but his fuel pump had other plans.<\/p>\n

These reliability issues do not make the task easier for the French team who wants to secure a fourth place in the constructors’ ranking. For this, solutions will need to be found.<\/p>\n

“At Silverstone, we continued to close the gap between us and fourth place in the constructor’s championship thanks to Fernando’s fifth-place finish,” says Otmar Szafnauer.<\/p>\n

There are many positive points to take away from Silverstone: the new improvements worked well, we were competitive on Saturday and Sunday… But the negative point is that only one of our two cars made it to the finish line, and it’s something we need to solve in the context of our fight for fourth place in the constructor’s championship.<\/p>\n

This weekend, Formula 1 is heading to the Red Bull Ring, a short track with nine corners that could play in Alpine’s favor. The director of the French team remains confident. Our car has performed relatively well in medium and high-speed corners this season, which is an advantage on this circuit. I am convinced that we are capable of leaving with good points on Sunday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
