The Aston Martin team has just announced the recruitment of the new Formula 2 champion, Felipe Drugovich, as a development driver.<\/p>\n

The Brazilian becomes the first member of this driver development program.<\/p>\n

Due to the lack of a regular seat, the Formula 2 champion gets a foot in Formula 1 through the back door.<\/p>\n

As good news never comes alone, he will have the opportunity to dive into the big pool during Free Practice 1 in Abu Dhabi. He will also take part in the young drivers’ tests in November on the same circuit.<\/p>\n

For next year, he will undertake an extensive testing program behind the wheel of the 2021 AMR21 car.<\/p>\n

Here are his first statements. Becoming a member of the Aston Martin driver development program is a fantastic opportunity for me after an extremely successful 2022 season.<\/p>\n

Winning in Formula 2 has long been considered the best possible springboard to a career in Formula 1.<\/p>\n

For me, 2023 will be a learning curve. I will be working with the team, but my main goal is to learn and develop myself as a pilot.<\/p>\n
