In 2024, the race in the Middle East will open the season with the 6 Hours of Qatar. This race replaces the Sebring 1,000 miles, whose contract is ending next year. A six-year contract has been signed.<\/p>\n<p>The Losail International Circuit is a modern venue that is accustomed to the requirements of global motor sports events. Therefore, joining the FIA World Endurance Championship is positive and logical, stated Richard Mille, president of the FIA Endurance Commission.<\/p>\n<h2>Ongoing work<\/h2>\n<p>\u00ab Improving geographical diversity is very important for the FIA. At the same time, promoting motorsport and promoting the FIA WEC in new markets will be beneficial for fans, committed manufacturers, and the promoter. It is good to see the FIA WEC ecosystem developing in a controlled manner with the addition of non-European races. \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>This is the second circuit located in this part of the world where the WEC championship will bring its wheels, after Bahrain. Works are underway on the infrastructures (stands and paddock). These changes have been initiated to add TecPro barriers at the entrance of the pit lane.<\/p>\n<p>We are delighted to have signed a contract for at least six years with the Losail International Circuit to bring the WEC to Qatar for the first time. The major renovations currently underway at Losail will make it one of the most prestigious circuits in the world. 2024 will be an absolutely memorable year: not only will we have several global manufacturers competing in the Hypercar category, but we will also be taking Endurance racing to a new additional territory, stated Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Lequien, CEO of the FIA WEC.<\/p>\n<p>The date of the first race has not been revealed yet.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The WEC championship will feature a new destination in 2024.
