The happy winners of the unlikely events in this race are none other than McLaren, and yet it was far from being a sure thing. Following Sainz’s penalty and the multiple crashes after the second red flag, both Norris and Piastri finished in the points for the first time this season, with the Brit securing 8th place ahead of the Monegasque. Nico H\u00fclkenberg, Guanyu Zhou, and Yuki Tsunoda also earn their first points of 2023.<\/p>\n

On the constructors’ side, Red Bull consolidates its lead, now 58 points ahead of Aston Martin. Mercedes comes out on the losing end due to Russell’s DNF, finding itself 9 points behind the British team, whereas they were previously tied. McLaren is the big winner among constructors, moving from the last place to 5th, thanks to the performances of its drivers who were able to take advantage of retirements, notably the double DNF at Alpine (6th). Scuderia Ferrari remains in fourth place, but now trails Mercedes by 30 points, with Sainz and Leclerc outside of the points…<\/p>\n
