George Russell was given two penalty points by the stewards after his collision with Sergio Perez during the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix.<\/p>\n
The Mercedes driver blamed himself for this incident, as he seemed well on his way to the podium when he made a mistake in the Mirabeau corner, shortly after switching to intermediate tires with the arrival of rain.<\/p>\n
While coming back on track, Russell made contact with Perez’s Red Bull. The Brit received a five-second penalty and ultimately finished the race in P5.<\/p>\n
In addition to his on-track penalty, a document detailing the verdict of the commissioners shows that Russell also received two penalty points for rejoining the track in a dangerous manner. This brings the total number of points he has accumulated in the last 12 months to six.
