Roman Stanek secured his very first Aramco Pole Position in Formula 2 thanks to an impressive performance at the Budapest Invicta, beating his teammate Leonardo Fornaroli. With a time of 1:28.779, the Czech driver sat at the top of an intense qualifying session. First at the end of the session, he had to watch his Italian teammate make his final attempt from the pits, but Fornaroli could not take the pole position. He missed it by just 0.146 seconds to Stanek. Jak Crawford (DAMS Lucas Oil) is in third position.<\/p>\n

For the record, the qualifications determine the starting order for the main race, but during the sprint race on Saturday, the top 10 are reversed. Therefore, Pepe Marti will start from pole position in the sprint race on Saturday.<\/p>\n

At the start of the session, it was the young Arvid Lindblad who set the very first benchmark time of 1:30.319, quickly overtaken by Oliver Goethe (MP Motorsport) with a lap of 1:29.308. Roman Stanek then improved this reference by 0.141 seconds, taking the lead from his very first flying lap. On his second attempt on soft tires, he further widened the gap with a time of 1:29.107, 0.181 seconds ahead of Goethe.<\/p>\n

Leonardo Fornaroli came out later than his rivals, benefiting from a clearer track, and with his staggered rhythm, he was able to be the last to make an attempt that fell short by less than two-tenths of his teammate.<\/p>\n

The rest of the grid is promising: Luke Browning (Hitech TGR) climbed to P4, followed by Joshua D\u00fcrksen (AIX Racing) in P5, Oliver Goethe in P6, Victor Martins and Arvid Lindblad in P7 and P8 respectively. Alexander Dunne in P9, and Josep Mar\u00eda Mart\u00ed in P10.<\/p>\n

A result that allows Invicta Racing to lock the front row with a tremendous one-two finish.<\/p>\n

The start of the sprint race is scheduled at 4 PM in Budapest this Saturday.<\/p>\n

3-place penalty for Montoya<\/h2>\n

Sebasti\u00e1n Montoya was penalized for impeding Kush Maini (DAMS Lucas Oil) at the exit of Turn 2. The stewards, after hearing from both drivers and their teams, determined that Montoya had violated Article 31.6 of the FIA F2 Sporting Regulations by unnecessarily hindering his rival’s progress.<\/p>\n

As a result, the Colombian driver received two three-place grid penalties, applicable for both the Sprint and the main race. Initially in 18th place, Montoya will therefore drop to 21st for both starts of the weekend.<\/p>\n
