A race far from being interesting, but which started at a fast pace. During the first hours of the race, the lack of incidents on the track had raised hopes for a distance record during the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Even the accident of the #88 Ford Mustang due to a poorly attached wheel did not really disrupt the competitors’ speed.<\/p>\n
After the hyperpole, S\u00e9bastien Bourdais, the driver of the Cadillac #38, feared that several teams were hiding their game. He was right. In one lap, K\u00e9vin Estre, driver of the Porsche #6, made a fantastic comeback and even found himself on the provisional podium at the end of his stint.<\/p>\n
During the night, mechanical problems dashed the chances of several cars: the #46 of WRT, the #95 of United Autosports, the #60 of Iron Lynx. Two accidents were noteworthy: the #24 of Nielsen that hit the tire wall at Tertre Rouge and the #31 of WRT that collided with a rabbit, causing significant damage.<\/p>\n
The two invited Cadillacs, #101 and #311, had to retire due to mechanical problems. The four American cars showed strong pace at the beginning of the race, but they faltered as the laps went by. Only #12 maintained its position.<\/p>\n
