Races follow one another but are not alike on the Shanghai International Circuit. Following a race masterfully won by Maximilian G\u00fcnther ahead of an electrified Jean-Eric Vergne<\/a>, the track action was less intense this Sunday due to particularly challenging weather conditions.<\/p>\n

From the qualifying session onwards, the race management decided to cancel the duel phase and consider the times from the first phases of the session to establish the starting grid. With the fastest time, Nick Cassidy would thus take advantage by starting from pole position ahead of the Porsche drivers.<\/p>\n

A leading position that the runner-up of season 9 managed to maintain from the start, which was given under a safety car regime, until the checkered flag on a soaked track where Attack Mode made less of a difference than on a dry surface.<\/p>\n

Behind, Pascal Wehrlein got past his teammate to take second place and regain some points on Oliver Rowland in the championship. The Nissan driver could do no better than 13th but maintains a very comfortable lead over his pursuers with five races remaining in the championship.<\/p>\n

Note the impressive fifth place of Jean-Eric Vergne, which allows the DS Penske team to leave China with a nice haul of points and, more importantly, third place in the team standings. In that ranking, Porsche and Nissan are separated by only one point.<\/p>\n

Now it’s time for the 12th race of the season, which will take place in Jakarta on June 21.<\/p>\n
