The 22 Formula E drivers are meeting this weekend for the only race of the season scheduled in the United States. Championship leader and impressive behind the wheel of his Nissan, Oliver Rowland appears as the favorite but will need to be wary of increasingly fierce competition.<\/p>\n
The return of Formula E in Florida<\/b><\/p>\n
Miami hosts its second ePrix in history this weekend. Present on the calendar for the first season of the electric single-seater championship, the city of Florida had the honor of being the fifth to host a Formula E race.<\/p>\n
At the time, in 2015, the race was held on a circuit laid out around Biscayne Bay. With a length of 2.169 kilometers, Nicolas Prost won at the wheel of a e.dams-Renault ahead of Scott Speed and Daniel Abt.<\/p>\n
Ten years later, it’s on a permanent circuit that the Gen3 EVO will compete for victory. Accustomed to hosting NASCAR races for many years, the Homestead-Miami Speedway, located south of Miami, will become the fifth American circuit to host a Formula E race, following Biscayne Bay, Long Beach, New York, and Portland.<\/p>\n
Second consecutive event on a new circuit<\/b><\/p>\n
Known for its tennis tournament and NBA team, Miami is gradually making a name for itself in the world of motorsports. As a host of a Formula 1 Grand Prix since 2022, the southeastern U.S. city aims to become a must-visit destination for the FE championship.<\/p>\n
After Jeddah, the Homestead Speedway is the second new circuit to join the calendar this season. With a length of 3.551 kilometers, it is laid out inside an oval, typical of American tracks. Comprising 15 turns, it is one of the longest on the calendar.<\/p>\n
The drivers will start their lap with a fast left turn before entering a technical section composed of slower turns between T2 and T5. They will then enjoy a first straight leading to turns 6 and 7, followed by a second straight that will take them to the hairpin at turn 8.<\/p>\n
The final part of the lap promises to be fast and spectacular, with first a left-right chicane followed by three fast turns that will certainly be taken flat out, two to the left and one to the right, before the final left turn that will bring the cars back to the start\/finish line.<\/p>\n
Oliver Rowland wants to assert his dominance.<\/b><\/p>\n
With two victories and a second place in four races, Oliver Rowland is the strong man of this early season. Behind the wheel of his Nissan, the British driver is very comfortable and even seems to have some advantage over his opponents. Another good result in Miami would make him a favorite for the title at the end of the season.<\/p>\n
Although they were very discreet in Saudi Arabia, the Porsches demonstrated their speed in Brazil and Mexico and will surely play leading roles in Florida, just like the impressive rookie Taylor Barnard. With three podiums in four races, the McLaren driver has perfectly adapted to FE.<\/p>\n
Finally, it will obviously be necessary to count on DS Penske drivers Jean-Eric Vergne and Maximilian G\u00fcnther. Winner of the first race in Jeddah, the German driver currently holds a solid fourth place in the championship. Always in the mix but not yet on the podium, Vergne can rely on his experience to adapt to the new Floridian circuit.<\/p>\n
