A new company. A new leader. Cadillac has just appointed Russ O’Blenes as CEO of GM Performance Power Units LCC. This new company will be responsible for producing the engines that will be used in Formula 1 by the end of the decade for the GM brand. Meanwhile, the American single-seaters will be powered by Ferrari engines.<\/p>\n

This company was founded by TWG Motorsports and General Motors. The two entities have decided to place their trust in Russ O’Blenes. With over 30 years of experience in motorsports engineering, O’Blenes is currently the director of GM Motorsports’ Propulsion and Performance team. O’Blenes joins TWG Motorsports and the roster of GM innovators, thereby creating a world-class technological base for the new Formula 1 team, according to the press release.<\/p>\n

He also led the development of the GM Performance and Racing Center in Pontiac, Michigan, and the marketing of the brand’s eCrate initiative for performance car builders and electric vehicle enthusiasts.<\/p>\n
