Shortly after announcing a desire to present a serious project, it’s time for implementation. This Wednesday, December 4, Hyundai officially presented its LMDh program to compete in the WEC and IMSA. As planned, the Genesis GMR-001 will make its entry into both competitions in 2026.<\/p>\n

The Korean brand has decided to rely on Oreca’s expertise for the chassis. In fact, Genesis will set up its infrastructure a few kilometers from the Paul-Ricard circuit, not far from Oreca’s headquarters.<\/p>\n

With Cyril Abiteboul<\/h2>\n

The team director is a well-known name in the world of motor sport. Former Renault F1 employee, Cyril Abiteboul will take control of the team. He has also led the WRC program of the Korean brand for the last two years.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Hyundai Motorsport will play a vital role in this ambitious new program. We are taking our track experience to the next level and preparing to race in one of the most competitive championships in the world, Frenchman announced.<\/p>\n

The ELMS to get ready<\/h2>\n

On the pilots’ side, two names have already been revealed. The German Andr\u00e9 Lotterer, who previously raced for Audi and Porsche, will join the project. Genesis therefore secures the services of an experienced man who has won the 24 Hours of Le Mans three times. “It’s the perfect opportunity for me to channel my work, my experience, my passion, and my motivation into a new project with a team of very ambitious people,” he emphasized. He will be supported by Pipo Derani.<\/p>\n

Before committing to IMSA and WEC in 2026, Genesis will collaborate with IDEC Sport in 2025 for the European endurance championship, ELMS. An LMP2 will be engaged with former Williams F1 driver, Logan Sargeant, Jamie Chadwick, and Mathys Jaubert.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
