He had been discreet for several months. Nicholas Latifi, sadly known for the safety car incident during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2021, had somewhat disappeared. The Canadian, who was not retained by Williams for the 2022 season, was also not active on social media.<\/p>\n
But, this Tuesday, July 18th, Nicholas Latifi apparently reactivated his Twitter account. The former Williams driver posted a long message in which he discusses his future. And it won’t involve motorsport. \u00ab I decided early this year to have no racing program for 2023. It felt really strange not to have the same routine that I’ve had for over half of my life. Knowing that I wouldn’t be behind the wheel of a race car this year, I had obviously started thinking about what might await me in the future, whether it involves motorsport or something completely different \u00bb, he posted.<\/p>\n
The Canadien indicated that he wanted to take a different path. This one is written in the university classrooms. \u00ab When I was younger, I always had a great interest in the business world, and I always said that it was something I would have studied at university if I hadn’t taken the racing path. With that in mind, and knowing that I might take a break from auto racing, I decided to get an MBA [Master of Business Administration, Editor’s Note] and focus on something that would transform the next chapter of my life. I always considered getting an MBA after the end of my racing career, even if it was in my late thirties or early forties. \u00bb<\/p>\n
The man nicknamed Goatifi by Formula 1 fans on social media, however, does not completely shut the door to a return to the world of motor sports. He admits to still being a big fan of F1 and claims to have not missed any Grand Prix.<\/p>\n
His career in the automotive industry has had its ups and downs. Unfortunately, more downs than ups in the premier category. The Montreal native scored only nine points in his three seasons with Williams (61 Grand Prix).
