It is an act that has been positively received by the Formula 1 world. Faced with criticisms from drivers regarding the 2026 cars, deemed too slow, especially in the corners, and not meeting safety expectations, Formula 1 has decided to organize a meeting in Faenza on Wednesday, October 2. During this meeting, the FIA highlighted several modifications in the technical regulations, particularly in terms of aerodynamics.<\/p>\n

Mike Krack supports the changes proposed by the FIA<\/h2>\n

While initially a 55% reduction in drag and a 30% reduction in aerodynamic load were planned, these figures were ultimately revised downwards in order to increase the aerodynamic performance of future single-seaters. A choice that Aston Martin’s director, Mike Krack, was satisfied with. “There are areas where we still have work to do, but overall, I think we will find a reasonable compromise,” he told Nailing the Apex. “I refer to a compromise because a set of regulations is always a compromise. We have decided to follow this path with the power unit, and some of the other points stem from that.”<\/p>\n

Luxembourgish driver notably wanted to express his gratitude towards the FIA for having taken into consideration the controversial opinion of drivers and teams regarding the future regulations and for having eventually managed to make changes that seem to satisfy everyone. Slowly but surely, by being collaborative once again, by conducting certain studies together – the FIA asked the teams to conduct studies on areas where we can improve the car or where we need to increase freedom, and where we need to remain restrictive – and they took it into account. A much more suitable situation to best prepare for 2026<\/h2>\n

For Krack, F1 now finds itself in a much more favorable situation than in June, when it unveiled the first images of the 2026 cars at the Canadian Grand Prix, a single-seater concept that did not really convince everyone in the paddock. Criticisms focused on the lack of safety of these cars, considered too fast on straight lines but too slow in corners. This significant speed differential could lead to an increased risk of accidents, prompting the FIA to react. And I think we are in a much better position than in June.<\/p>\n

Of course, not everyone will be satisfied with everything, but I think it will be an acceptable compromise. \u00bb Before 2026, F1 must first complete the 2024 season, with only six rounds remaining.
