The victory of Charles Leclerc at Monza<\/a> gives him a slight breather in the championship. The Ferrari driver is currently holding onto 3rd place, with 8 more Grand Prix races to go including 3 sprint races (11 races in total). He is being overtaken by Lando Norris, who is now in 2nd place with a gap of 62 points behind Max Verstappen, who is still a strong leader but facing increasing pressure. In fact, in the last 4 races<\/a>, Lando Norris scored 70 points, compared to “only” 48 points for Max Verstappen. If Norris continues to gain 22 points in each of the 4 races, he could seriously challenge Max Verstappen’s leading position towards the end of the championship.<\/p>\n

However, McLaren does not seem to want to favor Lando Norris in the championship and may let points slip away in the drivers’ standings, as Monza was a perfect illustration of after the first lap. More solidarity will be needed from the McLaren drivers to be able to join the battle for the drivers’ title.<\/p>\n

He stays with 8 Grand Prix and 3 sprints, 232 points to be distributed for the first place and 162 for the second place. This represents a gap of 70 points. If Verstappen always finishes second and Norris always finishes first, it is still mathematically possible. It is technically still possible for Piastri as well, but it already seems much less realistic.<\/p>\n

McLaren more threatening than ever to Red Bull.<\/h2>\n

On the side of the constructors’ championships, McLaren is more threatening than ever to Red Bull. The papaya team could take the lead in the team standings as soon as the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in two weeks, since McLaren is now only 8 points behind Red Bull.<\/p>\n

The Scuderia Ferrari is not to be outdone. Indeed, the last 8 Grand Prix races will see a duel between 3 teams for the title, with Ferrari trailing Red Bull by 39 points and McLaren by 31. The Italian team has taken back 32 points from Red Bull in the constructors’ championship in the last 4 races.<\/p>\n
