The Aston Martin driver highlighted the issue of penalties during the Miami Grand Prix by suggesting that some drivers were getting away with incidents unpunished.<\/p>\n

This follows penalties he had received during the Australian Grand Prix and the sprint race in China, for a driving that he thought was within the limits of what is allowed. “I suppose they won’t decide anything, because he’s not Spanish,” Alonso said immediately after the sprint race in Miami when asked what the FIA would decide regarding Lewis Hamilton’s maneuver at the start. “But I think he ruined the race for a few people, especially Norris, who had a very fast car and was involved in this incident.”<\/p>\n

\u00ab There are a few points that we need to address as a sport. But he has always listened to us. Let’s see if we can make F1 better and a little more coherent.<\/p>\n

Discussions have already taken place with stakeholders, including the Grand Prix Drivers’ Association (GPDA), to help develop a document that will cover all aspects of racing, including overtaking, defense, and track limits. The goal is for these new guidelines to be in place by early 2025, at which point they will be incorporated into the International Sporting Code (ISC). They will apply to all levels of racing to ensure greater consistency across all categories.<\/p>\n

A request for a review refused for Aston.<\/h2>\n

The previous directives that drivers are subjected to came into effect at the beginning of the 2022 season.<\/p>\n

Team principal of Aston Martin, Mike Krack, whose team failed to appeal a review of the penalty of his Spanish driver in the sprint race of the Chinese Grand Prix, said that greater consistency would be welcome for everyone in F1.<\/p>\n

He explains that it was particularly important this season, with stewards now handing out more severe penalties of 10 seconds for driving violations in the context of new guidelines they were following.<\/p>\n

\u00ab There are two elements in there. On the one hand, we want consistent judgments. But on the other hand, we have new guidelines for this season and sometimes, we may also fall a little back into the way we used to lead before.<\/p>\n

Sometimes, you think they should be more consistent. But depending on the [penalty] side you are on, obviously, you have a different interpretation of consistency. But I think everyone wants consistency. Everyone should examine the guidelines, including ourselves, and then we start afresh.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
