Third and fourth on the grid, Nick Cassidy and Mitch Evans knew before the race that they would have a good hand to play in the streets of Monaco. Quickly at the front after taking advantage of poleman Pascal Wehrlein’s early Attack Mode activation, the two New Zealanders then applied a strategy allowing one of them to slow down the pack to protect the other.<\/p>\n
With two safety car deployments, this eighth race of the season was full of action. After a few laps, it was Edoardo Mortara who sent his Mahindra into the wall at the first corner of the swimming pool section. Then, just a few laps from the end, it was Nico M\u00fcller who had to leave his ABT Cupra in the Rascasse after contact with another car.<\/p>\n
In front, despite the Jaguar strategy, the suspense was intense until the end as the two DS Penske cars did not give any respite to the drivers of the team led by James Barclay. In turn, Stoffel Vandoorne and Jean-Eric Vergne tried everything to break into the top two. In the end, it was the Belgian, world champion in 2022, who offered the team Franco-American their second podium of the season while achieving his first Top 3 with DS Penske since his arrival in Satory last year.<\/p>\n
The two championship leaders before this race had different fortunes. Poleman Pascal Wehrlein managed to salvage the situation with a 5th place finish. The German takes advantage of this to remain alone at the top of the driver standings. On the other hand, Jake Dennis had to return to the pits quite quickly in the race to change his front wing, which cost him any chance of performing well. The Englishman now finds himself in 3rd place in the championship, as Nick Cassidy is now in 2nd place.<\/p>\n
To note finally that the three French drivers scored points in this race. Jean-Eric Vergne finished 4th, Sacha Fenestraz finished 8th, and Norman Nato 10th.<\/p>\n
Heading to Germany now for the Formula E with two races scheduled for May 11th and 12th on the tracks of Berlin-Tempelhof airport.<\/p>\n
