After Alex Albon’s accident at the Australian Grand Prix two weeks ago, Logan Sargeant, had sacrificed<\/a> to provide a chassis for his teammate.<\/p>\n

A brutal comeback<\/b> for the American in Japan, who has just crashed quite violently. In Free Practice 1, the driver took a wide line at Turn 7, before losing control of his car in the gravel trap, crashing into the barrier.<\/p>\n

What caused a red flag period during FP1 as the Williams damaged by Sargeant was being recovered.<\/p>\n

It is a worrying situation for Sargeant and Williams, who do not have a spare chassis available this weekend. The Williams driver is using Albon’s repaired chassis.<\/p>\n

Reassuring news<\/h2>\n

The team released the following statement on X (formerly Twitter): \u00ab After a first look at Logan’s car following the FP1 incident, the front suspension and gearbox are severely damaged, but the chassis seems to be in good condition. \u00bb<\/p>\n

He was nonetheless forced to miss the FP2 session due to the significant damage mentioned above. Williams added, “Due to the extent of the damage on Logan’s car, he will not take part in the FP2 session. The team will continue repairs in time for tomorrow’s free practice session.”<\/p>\n

Will the single-seater be ready in time for Qualifying? It is to be hoped so because otherwise, the driver in question will once again have to skip the Grand Prix. But this time, of his own making.<\/p>\n
