The Board of Directors of the Qiddiya Investment Company (QIC) revealed the first images of an innovative Formula 1 track in Qiddiya City, aiming to be used in the calendar from 2027 onwards, replacing the temporary circuit in Jeddah. This track, called Speed Park Track, will offer a unique experience to drivers and spectators, with revolutionary design features such as the ‘Blade’ at turn 1, with a vertical drop of over 70m, suspended in the air.<\/p>\n
Abdullah Aldawood, General Manager of Qiddiya Investment Company, highlighted that the Speed Park Track aims to position Qiddiya as a major hub for the global motorsport industry. Designed by experts such as former Formula 1 driver Alex Wurz and designer Hermann Tilke, the circuit features 21 corners and spectacular landscapes around Qiddiya City.<\/p>\n
The track will be adaptable, with various configurations including an urban circuit and a very fast classic track section, integrated around the surrounding attractions. Fans will be able to enjoy multiple vantage points and observation facilities along and inside the track, for an immersive experience.<\/p>\n
\u00ab To add to the excitement and unparalleled experience, the track will be seamlessly integrated with the surrounding attractions, with the ‘Blade’ turn rising above a concert hall below and the drivers racing alongside Falcon’s flight, the world’s tallest fast roller coaster located at Six Flags Qiddiya City. The revelation this Tuesday of this track adds to the various projects already announced, such as the Qiddiya Gaming & esports District and the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium, with other announcements to come in the coming weeks. Saudi Arabia thus wants to make this city located next to Riyadh, the Las Vegas of the Emirates.<\/p>\n
Warning, this circuit is under construction and must first be approved by the FIA at grade 1 to host any Formula 1 Grand Prix. This implies that the FIA will assess that safety for F1 drivers is optimal. It is currently not certain that having 100m of empty space and taking the risk of a single-seater going over the track will be accepted by the International Automobile Federation.<\/p>\n
The QIC, responsible for developing the city of Qiddiya, a few kilometers from Riyadh, unveiled the first 3D renderings, photos, and videos of the future Formula 1 circuit that should be ready by 2027.
