The new owners of the team announced this information on Saturday, confirming India&#8217;s emergence as an economic and sporting force in the world of F1, the premier discipline of motorsports.<\/p>\n<p>Spyker F1 was acquired at the beginning of this month by Indian billionaire Vijay Mallya and Dutch businessman Michiel Mol.<\/p>\n<p>The owners said that Bernie Ecclestone, head of F1, has approved the team&#8217;s new name. All other teams are expected to approve this change as well.<\/p>\n<p>The new name will also be submitted for approval to the international motor sports council on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab I asked the FIA to change the team&#8217;s name to give a special connotation regarding India F1.
