Bernie Ecclestone has revived the idea of organizing a Grand Prix on the streets of London, stating that this ambitious project is not dead.<\/p>\n
A race through the streets of the English capital was launched in 2004 following the enormous success of the F1 car event in the streets.<\/p>\n
Ecclestone makes no secret of his desire to see such a Grand Prix in the near future, but admitted that the projected costs to organize such an event were too high and seemed to have fallen through earlier this year.<\/p>\n
However, after a season in which Lewis Hamilton generated genuine excitement for F1 in Great Britain, Ecclestone indicated that this event could still happen if the necessary money was found.<\/p>\n
\u00ab It would be great if we could do it, \u00bb said Ecclestone in the London’s Evening newspaper.<\/p>\n
\u00ab The idea is not dead. \u00bb<\/p>\n
He added that if a race in London were not to materialize, then an argument to tip the balance the other way would be to follow what the city of Singapore has done.<\/p>\n
Indeed, a night race through the streets of London, therefore on the European continent, would be a strong argument. The Grand Prix would thus be broadcast in prime time and would ultimately reach a wider audience.<\/p>\n
