Alain Menu secured the pole position in Macau for the final meeting of 2007. He positions himself as the leader in a duel between Yvan Muller and Andy Priaulx, who are tied at the top of the championship.<\/p>\n
\u00ab I think I’ve had my best qualifying session of my entire career in Touring. \u00bb commented Menu after the session.<\/p>\n
\u00ab We can attack here but it’s so hard not to touch anything. The pole is the result of a fantastic team effort and it’s a great achievement for me and the team. I’m a racing driver, I love to win and I hope to do so on Sunday. \u00bb<\/p>\n
For his part, Yvan Muller is in the fight for the title, but remains uncertain, especially after missing out on the pole at the last second: \u00ab I am disappointed not to be on pole, it’s important from the perspective of the championship battle. \u00bb<\/p>\n
\u00ab I am on the front row, Farfus and Andy [Priaulx] are behind me. Moreover, I prefer to have Menu next to me than many other drivers, and having Gabriele [Tarquini] behind me will be a great help. My goal is to finish Race 1 well, then see where Andy is in order to adjust my strategy accordingly. \u00bb<\/p>\n
Teammate of the Frenchman at Seat Sport, Tarquini shows more optimism: \u00ab The goal was to have Yvan [Muller] in front. However, despite helping him to draft twice, it wasn’t enough to secure him the pole. \u00bb<\/p>\n
\u00ab The TDI engine is fantastic, the whole car in fact is fantastic. I am optimistic for the race because the tire wear seems reasonable here. \u00bb Concluded the Italian.<\/p>\n
The other protagonist of this weekend will therefore be Andy Priaulx, and with his 12th place in qualifying, he does not wish to give up the title.<\/p>\n
I feel that with the reverse grid during the second race, everything is still possible.<\/p>\n
