The organizers of the Singapore Grand Prix have confirmed that their night race scheduled for next September will start at 8 PM local time.<\/p>\n
The event, which is set to take place on September 28, will be the first Grand Prix in F1 history to be held at night.<\/p>\n
And with a start at 8 p.m., the organizers are working tirelessly to ensure the lighting is as effective as possible.<\/p>\n
It is an Italian company, Valerio Maioli S.p.a., that has been chosen to equip the city with the necessary lighting. The brightness level will be four times that of a stadium.<\/p>\n
\u00ab The entire track, including the runoff areas, must be constantly lit, \u00bb the company said.<\/p>\n
\u00ab However, the runoff areas will not be as well-lit as the rest of the track, in order to avoid confusion among drivers. \u00bb<\/p>\n
\u00ab The light beam must be controlled in such a way that if cars make an exit and re-enter in the wrong direction of traffic, the driver’s vision is not compromised. \u00bb<\/p>\n
Valerio Maioli revealed that it only lights one side of the track, in order to minimize glare for television cameras.<\/p>\n
\u00ab The entire lighting system will be placed on one side of the track only. The cameras will be on the same side of the track to reduce glare during the race replay, \u00bb she said.<\/p>\n
