Super 2000 touring cars (S2000) are entering their seventh season since their introduction to global tracks in 2002. They have already participated in 128 FIA races counting towards the European Touring Car Championship (ETCC) from 2002 to 2004, and more recently for the World Touring Car Championship – WTCC, since 2005.<\/p>\n
Andy Priaulx is undoubtedly the most prolific driver by winning four consecutive titles (2004 ETCC, 2005\/2006\/2007 WTCC) even though he is not at the top in the statistics.<\/p>\n
J\u00f6rg M\u00fcller \u2013 one of the few drivers who raced the entirety of the previous six seasons (the other two being Jordi Gen\u00e9 and Tom Coronel) \u2013 is the one who has achieved the most victories, secured the most pole positions, fastest laps in races, and completed the most laps in the lead.<\/p>\n
VICTORIES:<\/b><\/p>\n
23 drivers from ten countries have won in touring car races, under the auspices of the FIA, on S2000-type models, but only five of them have won at least ten: J\u00f6rg M\u00fcller (21), Priaulx (17), Gabriele Tarquini (16), Fabrizio Giovanardi (14), and Dirk M\u00fcller (12).<\/p>\n
POLE POSITIONS:<\/b><\/p>\n
This is the only statistical category where J\u00f6rg M\u00fcller shares the leadership. The German driver has secured seven pole positions, as many as Giovanardi and Tarquini and only one more than Priaulx and Nicola Larini.<\/p>\n
BEST TOURS:<\/b><\/p>\n
These are still the same five drivers at the top of the standings: J\u00f6rg M\u00fcller (16), Tarquini (15), Giovanardi (13), Priaulx, and Dirk M\u00fcller (12).<\/p>\n
TOURS IN THE LEAD:<\/b><\/p>\n
J\u00f6rg M\u00fcller has led for 238 laps over the past six years. He is followed in the standings by Priaulx (221 in five years). There are only two drivers who have reached 200 laps; the others are at a respectable distance: Giovanardi (151), Tarquini (144), Dirk M\u00fcller (108), and Augusto Farfus (102).<\/p>\n
