Former Formula 1 driver Martin Donnelly today clearly asked the FIA \u2013 F\u00e9d\u00e9ration Internationale de l’Automobile \u2013 to allow more teams to enter the F1 World Championship.<\/p>\n

The 44-year-old Briton would indeed like to see 12 teams in F1 starting from the 2009 season. \u00ab The current manufacturers have made F1 a too expensive sport! Yet, there is a need for more teams… \u00bb<\/p>\n

The Lotus and Arrows driver in 1989 and 1990 recalled the differences with his ‘era’: \u00ab In my time, there were 18 teams… but especially pre-qualifications and many more young drivers who had their chance in F1… \u00bb<\/p>\n

\u00ab A driver is only declared good when he has a good car and therefore wins races… But as long as there aren’t multiple teams capable of winning races, we won’t see many ‘revelations’. \u00bb Continued Donnelly, who debuted at the French GP in ’89.<\/p>\n

With the Prodrive history, it is therefore logical for Donnelly to be pleased with their willingness to enter the premier category of motorsport. Nevertheless, he would like to see more than 24 single-seaters on the same track.<\/p>\n

However, David Richards is ‘stubborn,’ and make no mistake, they will come to F1, that’s for sure.
