Nick Heidfeld expresses great enthusiasm for the new BMW Sauber F1.08 after the car was unveiled on Monday in Germany.<\/p>\n
The German driver, who is about to start his third season with the team, explains that it is the most beautiful new car he has ever seen.<\/p>\n
\u00ab I am very, very happy because I know that the technicians and engineers have done their utmost to ensure that this car represents progress, \u00bb said Heidfeld during the launch of the car.<\/p>\n
\u00ab This is the most beautiful car I have ever seen. I know it doesn’t mean anything for speed, but I’m looking forward to the coming weeks. \u00bb<\/p>\n
Heidfeld finished in fifth position in last year’s driver championship, and in 2008, he insists that the team’s goal must be to win a race. However, the German remains cautious about his chances.<\/p>\n
\u00ab I can only speak for myself, I am sure I can win races, it all depends on the car and in theory, we should be able to bridge the gap between the Ferrari-McLaren duo and us. The goal is to win a race, \u00bb he said.<\/p>\n
The German also admitted that he is eager to drive the car without traction control.<\/p>\n
\u00ab For me, as a driver, everything will be more exciting, more fun to drive. You’ll see, finally, more mistakes which should create more excitement, \u00bb concluded Heidfeld.<\/p>\n
As for Robert Kubica, he hopes that the BMW Sauber team has made a big enough step forward to allow him to win the first race in the German team’s history.<\/p>\n
\u00ab Nick has made significant progress compared to the years 2006 and 2007, and I believe that everyone who worked on this car gave their all, \u00bb said Kubica, who will once again be Nick Heidfeld’s partner in 2008.<\/p>\n
\u00ab We have the right people in the right place to show the fans that maybe we can win a race this season. \u00bb<\/p>\n
This new single-seater should increase our chances, Nick’s and mine, of winning a race.<\/p>\n
The Pole who finished sixth in the championship last year added: I think the whole season will be a big challenge. Every race will be a big challenge.<\/p>\n
