Austrian fans had the privilege of attending the launch of the fourth season of Chevrolet in the FIA WTCC championship, with the 2008 version of the Chevrolet Lacetti being inaugurated at the Vienna Auto Show last week.<\/p>\n
Following its best season, Chevrolet will approach the year 2008 with the clear objective of doing as well as last year, with one of its drivers having competed for the title in 2007. For the fourth consecutive season, Chevrolet has retained its three drivers: Alain Menu, Nicola Larini, and Rob Huff.<\/p>\n
Eric N\u00e8ve, Chevrolet’s competition director, stated on the occasion: \u00ab Chevrolet’s goal for this year is clear. It is to try to win the driver’s title. \u00bb<\/p>\n
Outside of races and tests, the Chevrolet\/RML team will also be busy designing and developing the next generation of Chevrolet WTCC cars, scheduled to hit the track at the end of 2008.<\/p>\n
\u00ab We have been successful with the current car and it is important that we transpose its positive points to the new model, \u00bb noted the chief engineer of the project, Mark Way.<\/p>\n
\u00ab The first step is to create a simple drawing and then study the new car and how it differs from the old one, how it is better, and the details we need to work on. As we continued to develop the current Chevrolet, we had to increase our engineering staff. This will be one of the busiest years in terms of work, and we have high expectations for the upcoming season and the one after that. \u00bb<\/p>\n
\u00ab Once our work with the first one is finished, we will be able to start working on the new Chevrolet. There will then be the testing period where we will check if everything is working as it should. Months of work await us!
