Lewis Hamilton was honored this week during the independence celebrations in Grenada, a Caribbean island. He received an ambassador award for his efforts in Formula 1 last year.<\/p>\n
The McLaren driver, whose paternal grandparents are from Grenada, was of course present at this party celebrating the 34th anniversary of the country’s independence.<\/p>\n
In the presence of Governor General Sir Daniel Williams, and Prime Minister Keith Mitchell, Hamilton declared at a press conference that he was extremely touched by the support of this country which warmly welcomed him during his visit.<\/p>\n
Previously, Mitchell had indicated that the state of Grenada had a new favorite in Hamilton and that the island’s inhabitants held him dear to their hearts.<\/p>\n
