The director of the Indy Racing League – Tony George – and the co-owner of ChampCar – Kevin Kalkhoven – are scheduled to meet today in Indianapolis to try to resolve the remaining issues preventing the reunification of the two disciplines.<\/p>\n

For several days now, negotiations have been ongoing to reach an agreement. Both parties believe they can find a solution before the end of the week, thereby giving life to an entirely new championship, unique in the United States in the single-seater category.<\/p>\n

\u00ab We simply need to take into account the final details and smooth out the edges… \u00bb commented a spokesperson to the American daily ‘The Indianapolis Star’.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for Tony George, who is expected to purchase the ChampCar World Series, added: \u00ab They are still negotiating, and there will be no announcement today, but maybe we can make one on Friday if all goes well! \u00bb<\/p>\n

The main conflict lies between the two races in Long Beach (USA) and Motegi (Japan) that both take place on the same date, April 19th and 20th.<\/p>\n

The director of the Long Beach circuit, Jim Michaelian, confessed to the Indy Star that he could find an agreement by alternating the events every two years and said he believes that the two races could work as planned.<\/p>\n

The other point of divergence also concerns the schedule, as several circuits want to join this new championship, but only five of them will be able to.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
