The FIA World Touring Car Championship, the WTCC, launched today the Make Cars Green campaign. The goal: to reduce the impact of motorsports on the environment.<\/p>\n
The championship drivers will promote the green campaign during the first round of the series that will take place in Curitiba, Brazil. During the Brazilian leg and for the rest of the season, the campaign’s logo will be prominently displayed on each car.<\/p>\n
Make Cars Green is an international campaign aimed at reducing the impact of motorsports on the environment. This can be achieved through various means: promoting eco-friendly behaviors among drivers, particularly by managing fuels efficiently, introducing new technologies to help drivers manage their environmental impact, improving tire design to conserve as much energy as possible, and encouraging the widespread use of unleaded and sulfur-free fuels.<\/p>\n
As part of this campaign, the FIA launched a public statement calling on the United Nations to adopt the first global restriction on CO2 emissions from cars. \u00ab Make Cars Green \u00bb also emphasizes how politicians, industries, and consumers can play a constructive role in developing environmentally sustainable modes of mobility in the future.<\/p>\n
The president of the FIA, Max Mosley, stated: “It is extremely satisfying that so many competitors from the world of motorsport are supporting the FIA’s campaign to make this discipline more sustainable in the future. This support will be a major asset in encouraging healthy and ecological traffic around the world.”<\/p>\n
