Rick Weidinger, the owner of the United States team in the A1GP championship, would like to incorporate some circuits into the 2008\/2009 A1 Grand Prix calendar soon.<\/p>\n
Indeed, since the effective merger between the IRL (Indian Racing League) and the Champcar World Series, more than ten circuits have lost their licenses and therefore will not have major events this year. This is the case for American circuits such as Houston, Laguna Seca, Cleveland, Portland, and Elkhart Lake, for example.<\/p>\n
During the first year of A1GP’s existence, a meeting took place at Laguna Seca, but since then, the championship has never returned there.<\/p>\n
\u00ab We will try to set up at least one meeting in the USA with the championship leaders for the next season. Then, if team A1 France agrees, we will also try to organize one with them. \u00bb confirmed Weidinger.<\/p>\n
Weidinger also participated in the IRL championship a few years ago by sponsoring a new team and co-owning the Kelley Racing team since 2006.
