After receiving numerous compliments from the drivers in Mexico, the Scorpion tire’s hard compounds will have to acclimate to the less punishing and sometimes sandy stages of the Rally Argentina.<\/p>\n
As in the Rally Mexico, the WRC teams will have to use the hard Scorpion tires at the Rally Argentina despite very different conditions. This choice is not without disadvantages, acknowledges Pirelli’s rally manager, Mario Isola.<\/p>\n
\u00ab But the main thing is that all the drivers are in the same situation, with the same tires, on the same stages, and with the same weather conditions. It is important to remember that the decision to start with hard tires was approved by the manufacturers and the FIA’s technical department in November of last year. \u00bb<\/p>\n
This event represents a considerable challenge for the tires with soft to medium-soft surfaces – sometimes sandy – and cool temperatures at over 2000 meters altitude. There is even a risk of encountering snow as has happened in the past. The driver who can best exploit their tires in all conditions and avoid the stones on the roadside will be in a good position to make a difference against their rivals.<\/p>\n
