FIA President Max Mosley paid tribute to his predecessor Jean-Marie Balestre, who passed away today.<\/p>\n
Balestre was president of the FIA from 1986 to 1993, at which point he stepped down to make way for the current leader.<\/p>\n
In 1993, he had to give way to Mosley, who had taken over the presidency of FISA in 1991 after an election.<\/p>\n
Reacting to the news of Balestre’s death, Mosley stated that he will be missed by everyone within the motorsport community.<\/p>\n
